Caritas Chorale Reacts to COVID-19

Caritas Chorale will be presenting a series of concerts on YouTube in December. The Chorale will also be working on a virtual choir performance in the near future. Artistic Director, R.L. Rowsey will be working with Joel Bejot, Music Director at St Thomas Episcopal Church on the virtual choir concert. The YouTube concerts will be presented on four successive Sunday evenings starting on December 13th.

Caritas Chorale does not know when we will be able to sing in person to a live audience. The board of directors has been meeting via Zoom since March 2020. Like many performing organizations, Caritas cancelled concerts planned for April and June 2020. The April concert was to have been the culmination of our year-long celebration of our 20th anniversary. The YouTube concerts are titled, “Caritas Chorale Remembers.” The multimedia concert will feature musical highlights from the Chorale’s twenty year history.

Health authorities have identified singing as a super spreader activity. Caritas Chorale has had first hand experience with the contagion of the Corona Virus, with numerous sick singers and one death by early summer.  Despite this, Caritas is determined to bring the joy of choral music back to the Wood River Valley.
