“Ain’t We Got Fun”
“Ain’t We Got Fun” is the name Caritas Chorale is giving its annual fund-raising dinner to be held Sunday, September 8th, on the lawn next to Blackbird Pond, at the home of Jon and Linda Thorson, on Buttercup Road. Celebrating the good times of the “Gatsby” era with “Twenties” drinks and songs of the times delivered by the chorus, there is an extra treat in store. After a delicious dinner catered by Judith McQueen, the evening air will be filled with the jazz of the Frim Fram 4, a jazz combo of distinction from Boise that specializes in the classic songs and tunes of the Jazz Age. Dancing will be encouraged.
The Frim Fram 4 take their name from a jive number by the Nat King Cole trio. While their initial motivation centered on those songs, their repertoire has expanded to include jazz from the twenties on, and to become champions of the classics of swing in the eye of their many regional fans, who gather weekly to catch their tunes at Pengilly’s Saloon or Chandler’s in Boise. In addition to appearing yearly at the Sun Valley Jazz Festival, the Frim Fram 4 have just celebrated the release of their CD, “I’m A Shy Guy”.
The dinner will also feature a popular raffle with choice prizes like a week in a luxury Maui condo, or a Sun Valley season ski pass. Of course, all of this “fun-raising” is part of fund-raising for non-profit Caritas Chorale’s free community concerts of classical and traditional choral music, and to promote music appreciation for listeners and singers alike.
